Introduction
Dukkah is one of those magical ingredients that can transform a meal in seconds. It’s packed with flavour, crunch, and nutrition.
The beauty of this version? You don’t need any specific ingredients. You can use whatever nuts, seeds, and spices you have lying around, meaning your dukkah is always evolving into something unique.
I love keeping a jar of this on hand to sprinkle over eggs, dips, potatoes, curries, marinades, and even salads. It adds a hit of healthy fats, fibre, and polyphenols, making it not just delicious but also great for you. And while you could buy it in a shop, there’s something special about making your own—especially when each batch becomes its own one-of-a-kind blend.
Framework
You do not need to stick to exact amounts here—this is more of a guideline. Feel free to adjust based on what you have:
- A decent handful of whatever nuts you like (A mix of any will do—hazelnuts, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, cashews, etc.)
- A decent handful of seeds (sesame, sunflower, pumpkin, or flaxseeds)
- About 200-300g of whatever spices and herbs you like (cumin, coriander, paprika, garlic powder, oregano, thyme — pick your favourites)
- A decent pinch of salt and pepper (or more to taste)
- 100g of an all-purpose seasoning (optional, but great for balance)
Steps
1. Mix up all the ingredients into a container. That is it.
